Technical copy is sales infrastructure

Why technical copy works in industrial markets

Every datasheet, brochure and product page is a salesperson. The question is whether they're closing or confusing.

Detail, not noise

Datasheets, brochures and overviews that present technical details clearly - without spec overload.

Our process

From brief to final copy in four steps.

No drawn-out briefing cycles. No generic templates. A focused process that gets to great copy fast.

1

Briefing & spec

A focused briefing session - usually one or two calls with your SMEs - to lock down the product, the buyer, the angle and any non-negotiable technical claims. Then we agree the spec: format, length, voice, deliverables, dates.

2

Structure & framework

Before writing, we agree on the structure. For long deliverables (brochures, manuals, etc.), we produce a content outline. For shorter pieces, we agree on the key messages and CTAs upfront.

3

First draft

We write the draft. Because we already understand your technology, first drafts arrive at 95% right (we're not perfect!). You review, mark up, and feed back.

4

Refine & finalise

One structured review round. We polish, integrate your feedback, and deliver the final copy in your preferred format. Sales-ready, brand-consistent, conversion-focused.

We diagnosed a need to ‘make more of a splash’ in the industrial trade press both online and printed. Having had limited success by ourselves, adding Fresh to the team has freed up our time to do what we do well, leaving them to do what they do well. With exposure and enquiries increasing dramatically, we look forward to many more years of success together.

FAQs

Questions about technical copywriting.

Can't find your answer? Just ask us directly.

What's the difference between technical copywriting and content creation?

Technical copywriting is about conversion. Datasheets, brochures, product pages, solution overviews - copy that turns technical features into persuasive, benefit-led language to drive a buying decision. Content creation is about education and trust-building - blogs, white papers, thought leadership that earns attention over time. They're complementary. Most of our clients use both.

Can you really write accurately about complex technical products?

Yes - that's our specialism. Our team has real engineering backgrounds (control panel commissioning, systems design, factory floor experience). We understand the technology, the standards and the buyer. First drafts arrive 95% right, which is why our clients stay with us for years.

How do we brief you?

Most of our work starts with a short interview with your SME - usually 30–60 minutes. We use that, plus your existing documentation, to write the first draft. For larger projects, we'll also do a discovery session to align on tone, key messages and audience priorities.

Will the copy work with our existing brand voice?

Yes. We capture your tone from existing assets and brand guidelines - or, if you don't have them, we help you define them. The output reads like it came from your team, just sharper and more conversion-focused.

Can you write in technical sectors we serve outside the UK?

Yes. We write in UK and US English and have produced copy used in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. We localise where needed and flag differences in terminology across the wider product range.

Do you handle layout and design, or just copy?

Copy is our core. We can deliver to your design team, your agency, or your CMS. Where helpful, we work with trusted design partners to produce fully laid-out brochures, datasheets and pitch documents. We can do basic design in Canva, but we're not a design agency, and we'll always be honest about that.
